Whether you’re a seasoned mystery reader or just starting to explore the genre\, this club is the perfect place to share your thoughts\, theories\, and suspicions about all things mysterious. \nFor our February mystery book club\, we’ll discuss All the Colors of the Dark by Chris Whitaker. We’re meeting on Thursday\, February 5 from 7-8pm. \nYour Eventbrite RSVP is so helpful to our planning! \nAbout the book \n1975 is a time of change in America. The Vietnam War is ending. Muhammad Ali is fighting Joe Frazier. And in the smalltown of Monta Clare\, Missouri\, girls are disappearing. \nWhen the daughter of a wealthy family is targeted\, the most unlikely hero emerges—Patch\, a local boy\, who saves the girl\, and\, in doing so\, leaves heartache in his wake. \nPatch and those who love him soon discover that the line between triumph and tragedy has never been finer. And that their search for answers will lead them to truths that could mean losing one another. \nA missing person mystery\, a serial killer thriller\, a love story\, a unique twist on each\, Chris Whitaker has written a novel about what lurks in the shadows of obsession and the blinding light of hope. \nSo… what’s this book club like? \nWe hope to invite a group of people who have read the book (or don’t mind a spoiler) to discuss their thoughts. We will bring prompts but invite anyone to pose a question or share their thoughts! \nAfter our discussion\, the group votes on the next session’s read. SUMMARY:2/6: Pages for Progress - A Nonfiction Book Club at Booksweet
DESCRIPTION:2/6: Pages for Progress – A Nonfiction Book Club at Booksweet \nThis non-fiction book club gathers quarterly and is rooted in community education\, collective action\, and a deep love for the people that make us great: YOU! \nEach Pages For Progress meeting will begin with a discussion of a non-fiction book\, followed by an activity that gives actionable steps toward something we can do in our community to support the causes that matter to the group. \nFor the first quarter in 2026 we are meeting in February\, Black History Month\, and focusing our discussion on race. We’ll be reading Me and White Supremacy by Layla F. Saad. We hope you’ll join us this February. \nIf you order a copy of the book through the store\, you get a 10% discount. Give us a call\, an email\, or stop in to place your order. \nAbout the book \nThe New York Times and USA Today bestseller! This eye-opening book challenges you to do the essential work of unpacking your biases\, and helps white people take action and dismantle the privilege within themselves so that you can stop (often unconsciously) inflicting damage on people of color\, and in turn\, help other white people do better\, too. \n“Layla Saad is one of the most important and valuable teachers we have right now on the subject of white supremacy and racial injustice.”—New York Times bestselling author Elizabeth Gilbert \nBased on the viral Instagram challenge that captivated participants worldwide\, Me and White Supremacy takes readers on a 28-day journey\, complete with journal prompts\, to do the necessary and vital work that can ultimately lead to improving race relations. \nUpdated and expanded from the original workbook (downloaded by nearly 100\,000 people)\, this critical text helps you take the work deeper by adding more historical and cultural contexts\, sharing moving stories and anecdotes\, and including expanded definitions\, examples\, and further resources\, giving you the language to understand racism\, and to dismantle your own biases\, whether you are using the book on your own\, with a book club\, or looking to start family activism in your own home. \nThis book will walk you step-by-step through the work of examining: \n\nExamining your own white privilege\nWhat allyship really means\nAnti-blackness\, racial stereotypes\, and cultural appropriation\nChanging the way that you view and respond to race\nHow to continue the work to create social change\n\nAwareness leads to action\, and action leads to change. For readers of White Fragility\, White Rage\, So You Want To Talk About Race\, The New Jim Crow\, How to Be an Anti-Racist and more who are ready to closely examine their own beliefs and biases and do the work it will take to create social change. \n“Layla Saad moves her readers from their heads into their hearts\, and ultimately\, into their practice. We won’t end white supremacy through an intellectual understanding alone; we must put that understanding into action.”—Robin DiAngelo\, author of New York Times bestseller White Fragility \nSo… what’s this book club like?  \nThis is our second meeting of the quarterly Pages for Progress book club! Since this book club focuses on non-fiction books with an emphasis on community action\, we touch base on our ground rules for safety at the beginning of each meeting. We hope to invite a group of people who have read the book (or don’t mind a spoiler) to discuss their thoughts. We will bring prompts but invite anyone to pose a question or share their thoughts! \nAfter discussing our thoughts on the book choice\, we work through one activity together as a group\, focusing on ways to support one another and the communities we participate in. \nAt the end of the meeting\, the group discusses the next session’s focus topic and book choice. Feel free to pitch a topic or book you think is fitting for the next quarter! For this club\, the organizers make the final decision on our next book selection. \nWhile we will have water and light refreshments (including nut-free and gluten-free options)\, Booksweet is located in The Courtyard Shops\, filled with AMAZING dining options. Food and drinks are totally welcome at the meet-up; don’t feel shy about sipping boba while we chat! \nWe hope to see you there!

SUMMARY:3/18: Rainbows and Unicorns - An LGBTQ+ Book Club at Booksweet
DESCRIPTION:3/18: Rainbows and Unicorns – An LGBTQ+ Book Club at Booksweet \nJoin us for a fun evening of discussion and community at Booksweet for the next meeting of our LGBTQ+ Book Club on March 18th! For our March book\, we’ve selected Red\, White & Royal Blue by Casey McQuiston. Whether you’ve read the book more than once or are just coming to chat with like-minded readers\, this event is for you! \nYour Eventbrite RSVP is so helpful to our planning! \nAbout the book \nWhat happens when America’s First Son falls in love with the Prince of Wales? \nWhen his mother became President\, Alex Claremont-Diaz was promptly cast as the American equivalent of a young royal. Handsome\, charismatic\, genius—his image is pure millennial-marketing gold for the White House. There’s only one problem: Alex has a beef with the actual prince\, Henry\, across the pond. And when the tabloids get hold of a photo involving an Alex-Henry altercation\, U.S./British relations take a turn for the worse. \nHeads of family\, state\, and other handlers devise a plan for damage control: staging a truce between the two rivals. What at first begins as a fake\, Instragramable friendship grows deeper\, and more dangerous\, than either Alex or Henry could have imagined. Soon Alex finds himself hurtling into a secret romance with a surprisingly unstuffy Henry that could derail the campaign and upend two nations. Can love save the world after all? Where do we find the courage\, and the power\, to be the people we are meant to be? And how can we learn to let our true colors shine through? Casey McQuiston’s Red\, White & Royal Blue proves: true love isn’t always diplomatic. Feel free to pitch a book you’ve enjoyed recently or want to read with the group!

SUMMARY:3/20: Other Worlds- A Sci-fi/Fantasy Book Club at Booksweet
DESCRIPTION:3/20: Other Worlds- A Sci-fi/Fantasy Book Club at Booksweet \nJoin us at Booksweet for an out-of-this-world book club experience! Everyone is welcome to join the discusion of our favorite scifi and fantasy reads. Whether you’re a seasoned fan or just dipping your toes into the genre\, this is the perfect place to explore new worlds with fellow readers. \nFor our Friday\, March 20 gathering from 7-8 pm\, we’ll be discussing The Bones Beneath My Skin by TJ Klune. \nYour Eventbrite RSVP is super helpful to our snack and beverage planning! \nAbout the book \nA spine-tingling standalone novel by #1 New York Times bestselling author TJ Klune—a supernatural road-trip thriller featuring an extraordinary young girl and her two unlikely protectors on the run from cultists and the government. \nThere’s nothing more human than a broken heart. \nIn the spring of 1995\, Nate Cartwright has lost everything: his parents are dead\, his only brother wants nothing to do with him\, and he’s been fired from his job as a journalist in Washington\, DC. \nWith nothing left to lose\, he returns to his family’s summer cabin outside the small mountain town of Roseland\, Oregon\, to try and find some sense of direction. The cabin should be empty. It’s not. \nInside is a man named Alex. And with him is an extraordinary ten-year-old girl who calls herself Artemis Darth Vader. Artemis\, who isn’t exactly as she appears. \nSoon it becomes clear that Nate must make a choice: let himself drown in the memories of his past\, or fight for a future he never thought possible. Because the girl is special. And forces are descending upon them who want nothing more than to control her. \nSo… what’s this book club like? \nScifi / Fantasy readers have been gathering bi-monthly for over a year now and it’s been a blast! Some people finish the read\, others dip in for as long as they have capacity for. All are welcome\, valued\, and celebrated. \nThe group draws a crowd of about 20-30 people; enough to keep the perspectives diverse and fresh\, but not too many that all voices aren’t heard. \nWe have a number of folks who’ve returned to us–and a number who are new. We discuss prepared prompts but we also go with the conversational flow. After a good discussion\, the group votes on the next session’s read. Feel free to pitch a book to the group\, whether it’s a new book you’re itching to read it or it’s a favorite! \nBooksweet is located in The Courtyard Shops\, filled with AMAZING dining options. We will provide water and light refreshments (including nut-free and gluten-free options). Snacks and drinks are totally welcome; don’t feel shy about sipping boba while we chat! \nWe hope to see you there!

But when his reputation for being heartless jeopardizes a new business deal\, he finds himself seeking a most unusual—and alluring—solution . . . \nOnce an up-and-coming ballerina\, Miss Geneviève Valery is now hopelessly out of work. After refusing to become a wealthy patron’s mistress\, Nève was promptly shown the door to the streets. When she accidentally saves the life of a handsome duke\, she doubts the encounter will go any better than her last brush with nobility. But instead of propositioning her\, Montcroix makes Nève an offer she would be a fool to refuse: act as his fake fiancée in exchange for fortune enough to start over. \nOnly neither is prepared when very real feelings begin to grow between them. They both stand to win . . . but only if they’re willing to risk their hearts. \nSo… what’s this book club like? \nWe hope to invite a group of people who have read the book (or don’t mind a spoiler) to discuss their thoughts about the book (the plot\, the characters\, and anything else you want to discuss!). We will bring prompts but invite anyone to pose a question or share their thoughts! \nAfter a fun discussion\, the group votes on the next session’s read. Feel free to pitch a romance you’ve enjoyed recently or want to read with the group. \nHope to see you there!

Deeply ambivalent about growing up black in the lone star state\, he was the first in his family to get as far away from Texas as he could. Until duty called him home. \nWhen his allegiance to his roots puts his job in jeopardy\, he travels up Highway 59 to the small town of Lark\, where two murders — a black lawyer from Chicago and a local white woman — have stirred up a hornet’s nest of resentment. Darren must solve the crimes — and save himself in the process — before Lark’s long-simmering racial fault lines erupt. From a writer and producer of the Emmy winning Fox TV show Empire\, Bluebird\, Bluebird is a rural noir suffused with the unique music\, color\, and nuance of East Texas. \nSo… what’s this book club like? \nWe hope to invite a group of people who have read the book (or don’t mind a spoiler) to discuss their thoughts.
