9/17: Author Event – Managing Emotions—So They Don’t Manage You, with Ethan Kross

Dr. Ethan Kross has dedicated his career to uncovering how we can work with our emotions instead of being ruled by them. In his latest book, SHIFT, Kross dismantles common myths—like the idea that we should always “live in the moment” or that avoidance is inherently bad—and reframes emotions as a powerful source of information. Drawing on decades of research and riveting real-life stories, Kross shows how, when activated at the right time and in the right way, our emotions can guide wise decisions, protect us from harm, and help us thrive.

In this talk geared towards parents and their children, Kross will share simple, evidence-based strategies for regulating emotions in everyday life. He’ll reveal how to harness the right kind of anxiety, reframe challenges, and use our relationships and environments to build resilience. Attendees will leave with a practical toolkit and a renewed understanding of how to shift emotions from something that holds us back into something that propels us forward.

This event is free and open to the public, but registration is required.
